Ceremony of lessons and carols – Chormusik und Lesungen zum Advent
In the organizer's words:
On the weekend of the 3rd Advent, the CANTAMO Cologne chamber choir will be holding concerts in the Philippuskirche in Cologne-Raderthal and in the Basilica of St. Maria in Lyskirchen.
The Advent concerts are inspired by the "Ceremony of nine lessons and carols", the traditional English form of the Christmas service. Readings relating to the Advent season alternate with related choral works. Pieces from different eras will be performed, including works by Edvard Grieg, Alan Wilson and Orlando Gibbons.
Free admission, donations requested.
Part of the collection at St. Philip's Church will go towards the youth work there.
The event in St. Maria in Lyskirchen will take place as part of the evening service.
