Charly Hübner "If you knew what I know ... The author of my life"
A tribute to Uwe Johnson. Moderation: Holger Helbig
VVK from 08.10.
Charly Hübner is just 19 when the Wall falls and he moves out of his home in Neustrelitz and seeks refuge in theater and literature. Uwe Johnson's book of the century "Anniversaries" falls into his hands, and he dives deep into this novel world, in which his native Mecklenburg and New York, great history and family saga are brought together. - Almost 35 years later, Charly Hübner, now a popular and famous actor, reads the entire 74 hours of "Jahrestage" as an audio book (together with Caren Miosga) and rediscovers the novel's topicality and timelessness.
Charly Hübner has published "a very charming fan book ... an enchanting homage" (FAS) about this and the author Johnson in general. He brings the author, who is sometimes considered difficult to read, closer to himself and us readers, he links the reading with memories of his youth in Mecklenburg, and makes unbiased and fresh discoveries, especially beyond the realm of German studies.
Holger Helbig, director of the Johnson Archive and professor in Rostock, editor of the Historisch-kritische Johnson-Werkausgabe and the Johnson Yearbook, presents the author and his main work in a dialog with Charly Hübner.
