Peter Jackson's monumental film adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" begins with The Fellowship of the Ring. The film tells the story of the young hobbit Frodo Baggins, who comes into possession of a powerful ring that belonged to Sauron, the Dark Lord. Together with a group of companions - consisting of hobbits, a wizard, an elf, a dwarf and two humans - he sets off on a dangerous journey into evil in order to destroy the ring. Friendship, temptation and courage play a major role, and even in this first part, the comprehensive panorama of Middle-earth is revealed - from the rolling hills of the Shire to the mysterious Rivendell and the dark forest and shadows of Isengard.

At all three LORD OF THE RINGS events, members of the Cinema Strikes Back team will present the films and organize a supporting programme before or after the screenings.
