Who comes to the theater? Who is portrayed? Who makes theater? Who is excluded? We, Nina and Laura, are researching these questions. As the first generation of students in our families and as working-class children, we perceive theater not only as an artistic and cultural place, but also as a place of social inequalities! To this end, we are looking for exchange with interested people, especially with those who have so far gone to the theater little or not at all. During our research period, we will be offering public events such as workshops to get people talking.
Workshop 1: ClassTrouble - class bodies with Josephine Findeisen
In this workshop format, we will look at different perspectives on class and classism. The starting point is a joint reading of two different texts*. We will take reading breaks to collect thoughts, clarify questions of understanding and exchange experiences.
In the second workshop block, after a break, we will use physical exercises to look at embodied aspects of class inequalities.
With the help of physical and relaxation exercises, we will focus on various physical structures (e.g. skeleton and musculature). To what extent is class a physical experience? How do class inequalities manifest themselves in bodies? And what is health inequality anyway?
The aim of the workshop is to negotiate complex and sometimes invisible class structures together.
No prior knowledge is required for the physical exercises and the work with texts in the workshop. The workshop will mainly be held in German spoken language - knowledge of English is helpful for one of the two texts, but is not a prerequisite for participation.
