One man. One stick. A television set. That's all it takes - and yet a whole world of movement, balance and meaning is created. What begins simply becomes an equally witty and clever game of confusion. The stick wanders over the head, hands and feet - in constant dialog and incessant movement. But what exactly are we seeing? In the background, the television comments on the action. Sawdust and layers of interpretation swirl around wildly. Is this just a commentary - or has the screen long since determined what we see?

In "Stickman", Darragh McLoughlin juggles with our viewing habits with precision and minimalist style. The Irish artist shows how easy it is to control perception - and how exciting it can be to take a closer look.
