A performative search for miracles by äöü

Have you ever experienced a miracle - or at least hoped that one would happen? Wouldn't today be a good time? Yes, why not? The reports of inexplicable events never cease: a fifteen-year-old in St. Nicholas shoes becomes a saint, figures of the Virgin Mary appear in the supermarket next to the frozen peas, a dandelion blooms in the cracked asphalt and your sports club finally makes it into the top league.

Was that a miracle?

äöü takes you on a theatrical pilgrimage to inexplicable events, scientific magic and a seemingly impossible quest. To the sound of electronic harps, they travel from Assisi to Međugorje to Fátima and back to the Ruhr area. Between faith, science, hope and (theatrical) magic, äöü invites you to a poetic performance about what eludes the laws of everyday life and nature. With the usual wink, great curiosity and admitted doubt, äöü extends its antennae. He who believes is blessed. Can you feel it too?

äöü take the everyday as an opportunity to question our world today. Always with depth. Always with a wink. They collect and explore everyday objects, use them to create formations on stage, place themselves in a relationship through their own bodies, draw relationship structures between and to things. The resulting works are poetic and sensual interspaces into which the audience is invited. äöü is the theater and performance collective of Patricia Bechtold (Scenic Research Bochum) and Johannes Karl (Applied Theater Studies Gießen) from Bochum. To the sounds of electronic harps, they start a trip from Assisi via Međugorje to Fátima and back to the Ruhr area. Navigating the realms of faith, science, hope and (theatrical) magic, äöü invite you to a poetic performance exploring what defies the laws of everyday life and nature. With a twinkle in their eyes, boundless curiosity and admitted scepticism, äöü put their antennas out. Those who believe shall be blessed. Can you feel it too?
