77-year-old Tereza lives in a small industrial town in Brazil. One day, she receives an official order from the government to move to a senior citizens' colony in a remote area. Here, the elderly are to "enjoy" their last years, while the younger generation can concentrate fully on productivity and economic growth. But Tereza resists. She embarks on a journey into the Amazon region, through the tributaries and the jungle. She wants to fulfill one last wish before her freedom is taken away. One last wish that will change Tereza and steer her life in a new direction.
At once visually stunning and sensitive, the feature film takes us on a transformative journey through the Amazon and tells a powerful story of the quest for freedom, resilience and sisterhood. As touching as it is empowering, it not only won the Grand Jury Prize and the Ecumenical Jury Prize at the Berlinale, but was also honored by the audience. An almost hypnotic experience, with characters that touch your heart and that you won't forget in a hurry.
