DER AUTOR is a performative exploration of narrative, violence and responsibility.

At a time when true crime stories are clicked millions of times, violence is aestheticized and narratives are commodified, THE AUTHOR offers a stage experience that questions this order.

Content that circulates on Netflix, YouTube or Spotify is no longer reporting or news, it has become dramaturgically prepared products and you consume them. Or do you? Maybe you watch a court documentary over dinner or listen to a true crime podcast before going to sleep. A classic crime novel is no longer enough for you. It has to be real, you say. You want a true story, a real victim and real perpetrators. But why? What are you looking for there, in that darkness? Do you just want to watch without touching anything? What do you think the consequences are?

THE AUTHOR asks the audience uncomfortable questions without answering them. It walks the line between fiction and reality, between art and ethics, between narrative and exploitation. While the line between staged and real violence becomes blurred, your view is also called into question. With a minimalist staging and a narrative focus that puts the audience at the center, this piece is not a closed narrative, but an invitation to confront your own role in this story.
