Paris, 2014: sound engineer and DJ Céline is expecting her first child - but she is not pregnant. In a few months, her wife Nadia will give birth to a daughter. While Nadia works between nausea and shortness of breath in the dental emergency service, Céline practices baby handling on a colleague's children. Despite "marriage for all", Céline has to prove to the state that she is up to her role with 15 personal letters from acquaintances. As a pioneer, she must first fight for her place before the law and in the eyes of others - and at the same time make peace with her mother. Director Alice Douard treats her characters with great empathy. Inspired by her own experiences, Douard presents an outstanding debut film about love and ancestry that has never been seen before in French cinema.

In 2013, the French National Assembly adopted the Taubira law, which allows couples of the same sex to marry. It is on a sound archive of this event that the film opens: Céline awaits the arrival of her first child. Mais elle n'est pas enceinte. Within three months, it is her wife Nadia who gives birth to her child. Alice Douard signs a first film lumineux sur l'amour et la filiation, celui-là même qu'il manquait encore au cinéma français.
