Cult event returns to the city: DesignWerke 2025 at Künstlerhaus Hannover
After a break of several years, one of northern Germany's most creative events is returning to the state capital: DesignWerke is celebrating its comeback from August 15 to 17, 2025 - right in the heart of Hanover. For the first time, the popular festival for design, art, fashion, music, culinary delights and culture will take place in the tradition-steeped Künstlerhaus between the main railway station and the opera house.
"With the Künstlerhaus, we have finally found the perfect location for DesignWerke," says organizer Sandra Strüber, who has been organizing the event since 2016. Originally held on the site of the former Eilers Werke in the Ledeburg district, the format later moved to Braunschweig - now it is finally returning to where it all began: Hanover.
70 exhibitors showcase their products and services
DesignWerke presents around 70 regional and international exhibitors in the indoor and outdoor areas of the Künstlerhaus. This platform places particular emphasis on handmade individual pieces and small series; sustainable, recycled or upcycled products take priority.
Established and up-and-coming creative labels offer their products in the areas of fashion, art, jewelry, home textiles, illustrations and luxury foods - from accessories, graphics and handicrafts to cosmetics and delicatessen. "We have selected the exhibitors true to the guiding principle of a good life with a focus on regionality, organic quality and conscious design," says Sandra Strüber. Several food trucks offer culinary delights.
Live tattoos & workshops
A special highlight are the live tattoo sessions, where visitors can have small, individual designs engraved by tattoo artists directly on site - spontaneous, professional and with festival charm. DesignWerke also offers various workshops for those who want to get creative themselves.
Musical supporting program
The festival will be accompanied by music from a team of disc jockeys led by the well-known DJ Daniel Ortega, a veteran of the Hanover club scene with an international reputation. He plays relaxed but danceable beats between the designer stands - for the "ultimate kick", but without dominating the shopping experience. The music program creates atmosphere and invites you to stroll around and linger.
The Künstlerhaus not only impresses with its central location, but also offers the ideal setting for an inspiring summer event with its indoor and outdoor spaces - open, urban and with plenty of room for encounters, creativity and discoveries.
