Burak Yilmaz, educator and author, reads from his book "Ehrensache - Kämpfen gegen den Judenhass" and enters into a dialog with Özge Erdoğan, head of the nationwide Fachstelle Türkischer Rechtsextremismus (FaTRex), which was founded in Cologne in 2025.

Yilmaz and Erdoğan talk about multiple discrimination, racist hostility and exclusion by Germans, but also about violence and hatred within the migrant community. Where are the parallels between German and Turkish right-wing extremists? How is it possible that the Grey Wolves are one of the largest right-wing extremist movements in Germany? Burak Yilmaz and Özge Erdogan go in search of clues, delve into the culture of remembrance of the migration society and attempt a critical classification.

The book

"The fight against racism and anti-Semitism begins in your own head," says Burak Yilmaz. His book "Ehrensache" is a testimony against hatred and an urgently needed foray into a neuralgic point of the German public sphere. "In Auschwitz of all places, we are suddenly perceived as Germans" - this is how Burak Yilmaz, a German with a Turkish-Kurdish migration background who organizes trips to Auschwitz for young Muslims, sums up his contradictory feelings and experiences.

The center

At the beginning of this year, the Turkish Right-Wing Extremism Unit began its work in order to focus attention on the topic of Turkish right-wing extremism, which has received too little attention in Germany for too long. The center offers a central first point of contact for all those who deal with the topic of Turkish right-wing extremism or are directly affected by it - be it in civil society, professional practice, the education sector, science, politics or the media. Sponsored by the Association of Alevi Youth in Germany (BDAJ), the specialist center is part of the nationwide cooperation network "Competent in the Prevention of Right-Wing Extremism (KompRex)".
