Die bösen Zungen. Künstlerinnen im Italien der Nachkriegszeit

In the organizer's words:

The Italian Cultural Institute Cologne, in collaboration with the Association of Friends of the Italian Cultural Institute, presents the event Die bösen Zungen. Women Artists in Post-War Italy, which will take place on November 27 at 7:00 pm in the Institute's theater hall.

The event is dedicated to female artists born between the two world wars who, in different ways, embody the other, the female part of the Italian avant-garde of the post-war period: Carol Rama, Maria Lai, Marion Baruch, Mariuccia Secol and the Gruppo Femminista Immagine di Varese. Curator Dr. Magdalena Holzhey and artist Susanna Schoenberg will discuss their materials and techniques, their fetishes and social visions - and not least the topicality of their artistic approaches for the present day.

Magdalena Holz hey studied art history and Romance languages and literature in Berlin, Pisa and Turin. She has been head of the collection and curator at the Kunstmuseen Krefeld since 2014. She is the author and editor of various publications on 20th and 21st century art and has curated numerous exhibitions, including solo exhibitions with Carol Rama and Marion Baruch.

Susanna Schoenberg is an artist who works with technical media, film and performance. With arte e parte she produces artistic collaborations, public actions and interventions with a focus on interdisciplinary and transcultural practices.
