Poetic dance theater about the home within us

A crow sets up a corner for himself - with things he needs. But what do I need to be happy? What helps me when I feel lonely or sad? What makes a place my place? Bit by bit, she transforms her place into a world full of ideas, until she finally opens a window and seeks contact with the outside world.

DIE ECKE invites children aged 8 and over to discover the essential needs of being human in their very own way.
The stage becomes a poetic landscape of ideas. With dance, music and video art - without too many words - the production invites children to observe, feel and find their own answers.

DIE ECKE is quiet and deep, artistic and playful. A play that leaves space - in the theater and beforehand: children can send in their own thoughts, sounds, drawings and messages on a participatory website. The contributions flow into the video projections and the soundscape of the performances. This makes each performance unique - shaped by the voices and ideas of the audience members themselves.

Thinking begins here with movement, sound and image. Philosophy for children becomes a sensory experience.

There are also free workshopsfor schools, in which pupils develop their creations for the play together with the professionals. There are special prices by arrangement.

The cozy studio theater in the Alte Wursterei in Cologne-Ehrenfeld invites families and school classes at fair prices. A staggered price model allows admission prices according to self-assessment. The performances last around 45 minutes. After the family performances, there is fresh hand-stuffed bratwurst, homemade waffles and cakes, hot chocolate, coffee and lemonade. Children get a free drink.

disdance project is a non-profit UG based in Cologne and has been realizing interdisciplinary projects with interfaces between dance, theater, video art and mediation for young and old for over 20 years. It cooperates nationwide with actors from the fields of art, culture and education. Productions have been awarded the Kölner Kunstsalon Theaterpreis 2022, nominated for the Kölner Theaterpreis 2024, 2023 and 2008, projects nominated for the Kinder- und Jugendkulturpreis NRW 2016 and the Preis für Kulturelle Bildung 2013 des Bundesbeauftragten für Kultur und Medien. Two participatory plays for young audiences were under the patronage of the German UNESCO Commission.
