Die Entdeckung der Einsamkeit

In the organizer's words:

The discovery of loneliness
Interdisciplinary reading with music

Loneliness is a feeling that everyone knows - and yet often doesn't call it by its name. It is diffuse, silent, sometimes paralyzing. In a society that seems to be permanently connected, this feeling is becoming increasingly widespread: among young people as well as older people, in big cities as well as in the countryside. Loneliness is no longer an individual problem, but a social reality with grave consequences for health, togetherness and social cohesion.

In an interdisciplinary reading with music, singer Julia Ehninger explores the growing loneliness in our society. A disturbing development to which she and her colleagues Jonas Schneider (texts, concept) and Luise Kinner (spoken word) find humorous approaches. The texts tell of absurd, touching and angry moments from the depths of loneliness - and of the attempt to understand them. The sometimes cheerful, sometimes angry, sometimes bizarre voices from loneliness revolve around both the "feeling that no actor can portray" (Manoj Bajpayee) and its scientific exploration, which distinguishes it from being alone. The musical interventions - together with Florian Herzog (bass, synthesizer) and Thomas Sauerborn (drums) - play with electronic jazz and pop music and make the feeling of loneliness directly tangible. The result is a multi-layered concert experience about one of the most pressing feelings of our time.
