Extreme right-wing violence in Munich and Italy
The neo-fascist "Ludwig Group" murdered at least 15 people in northern Italy and Germany between 1977 and 1984. The perpetrators carried out their attacks based on an extreme right-wing ideology. Their acts of violence were directed against people who they imagined to be a threat to the so-called national community and therefore wanted to murder.
Alessandra Coppola presents her new research on the Ludwig group, which she recently published in the book "Il fuoco nero". In it, she refers to findings from the investigation files, journalistic research and statements from contemporary witnesses.
Lina Dahm's lecture takes the audience on a search for clues through the cities where the attacks took place. It sheds light on the ideology of the "Gruppe Ludwig", presents the crime scenes and local contexts and asks how differently the memory of extreme right-wing violence becomes visible - or remains invisible - in public space.
With a welcoming address by Marek Wiechers, Head of Cultural Affairs.
The event will be held in German and Italian with simultaneous translation.
In cooperation with Public History Munich and the Fachstelle für Demokratie.
