Do you like fairy tales about other cultures and mythical creatures? Then this Celtic story about little Ben and his sister Saoirse is for you! Ben lives with his parents on a lighthouse island and leads a happy life there. Everything changes one day when Saoirse is born and their mother suddenly disappears from their lives. Six years later, Ben is still mourning the loss of his mother and thinks his little sister is to blame. When Saoirse has to take on a big task, the siblings come together and support each other. They need a lot of courage and mutual trust! In the course of the journey, Ben discovers that his sister is a mythical creature, a selkie. These are seals that live between the sea and the land.

In this film, director Tomm Moore transforms an extraordinary family story into a poetic journey through Celtic mythology, fabulous landscapes and Gaelic music. He uses a special animation technique, which was drawn by hand in special scenes. An award-winning cinematic experience for the whole family!
