DOK Day on SHORT FILM DAY: animated and documentary films

December 21 is the shortest day of the year - the perfect occasion to celebrate short films. In the nationwide action week SHORT FILM DAY , we are showing a program of eleven short documentaries and animated films together with DOK Leipzig.

The films come from countries including Estonia, Latvia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine. They are between 1 and 20 minutes long.

The program is humorous and thought-provoking at the same time. We meet a kebab on the wrong track, a fox experiencing an erotic adventure and a choir that runs away from its director. We observe the beauty of an olive tree and feel the dynamics of its life. We take a curious and nostalgic look at Bratislava. A cinematic farewell letter to Kyiv poses the question of the value of material possessions when you have to fear for your life. Three films delve into the cultural history of their countries: they visit the Estonian island of Ruhnu, tell the Slovenian folk tale of a deity in the form of a chamois and accompany one of the last important Latvian rituals in a person's life.
