Doppeldenk Welcome to Miami Vernissage

In the organizer's words:

"Welcome to Miami" brings summer to the Affenfaust Gallery - with bright colors, vibrant lightness and a good dose of good humor. Between neon, pop and playful aesthetics, a world unfolds that seems familiar at first glance and is reminiscent of sun, consumption and abundance.

But behind the dazzling surface, the Leipzig-based artist duo Doppeldenk work with subversive acuity: their works translate social contradictions into absurd visual worlds and expose mechanisms of advertising, politics and collective beliefs. Inspired by the concept of "doublethink" from Orwell's 1984, they address the simultaneity of contradictory truths.

In wooden sculptures, neon works and wall reliefs, color and form condense into an ambiguous visual language that oscillates between humor and criticism. The result is a field of tension that entertains and irritates in equal measure - and invites us to question our own perceptions.

Doppeldenk consists of two artists who live and work in Leipzig. In addition to exhibitions in Germany and abroad, they have also been realizing projects in public spaces for many years, including large-format murals, objects and design works, consistently combining pop culture with social analysis.
