That's the point

Grief is not a closed state, but a living, social process. With "EchoTrace", the PORTRAIT ME collective is creating a multimedia art trail that dissolves the boundaries between lifeworlds. At the Residenz am Dom, a mobile, barrier-free experiential space is being created that interweaves performance, installation and virtual reality. Here, ageing is understood as a shared future and biographies become the living present.

That's why you have to go in

The trail invites you to experience grief and memory on three interlocking levels: Analog, you will encounter performative encounters in real space. Digitally, you will encounter interview stations with voices that are brought to life by cassette recorders, among other things. Using VR glasses, you can immerse yourself virtually in an immersive world with biographically based avatars. At various stations, performers invite you to change perspectives, engage in conversations and respectful touch - whether physically, emotionally or purely mentally.

EchoTrace is more than an exhibition; it is an invitation to connect. A project that shows how technology and human closeness can come together to open up new spaces for remembering.

VR devices can occasionally cause dizziness or discomfort. If anyone feels unwell, we recommend removing the glasses immediately.

In the large hall - the VR area - there are occasional sound overlaps.

Duration: approx. 90 minutes

The event room is barrier-free. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet.

The walk from the station to the venue is approx. 250 m and leads over streets with lowered kerbs.

There are a few parking spaces on the street. The nearest barrier-free parking facility is Parkhaus am Dom, Kurt Hackenberg Platz 2, 50667 Cologne.

The event covers a total distance of approx. 100 meters. There is sufficient seating at each intermediate stage and at the meeting point. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet.

Guide dogs and assistance dogs are very welcome. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog to the performance.

Please let us know if you would like to be picked up from the nearest bus or train stop and accompanied to the event.

The various support requirements can be specified when purchasing tickets. That way we can prepare well.
