Effondrement

A wide field, a clear sky, a border. Then a bomb hits the city behind it. In 'Effondrement', a friend accuses Anat Even of being unable to grasp the real horror, the displacement and destruction of Palestinian life by Israeli missiles, if she only looks at Gaza from a distance. The Israeli filmmaker seeks to escape her powerlessness and travels along the external lines of conflict to reveal the internal ones. She wrestles with herself, reflects with her friend, who finally breaks off the correspondence, and records it: A kibbutz destroyed on October 7, the machinery of retaliatory war, tractors still tilling the land, a gathering of radical settlers*, birds, frightened by the thunder of bombs booming over the entire film.
