Ein Abend mit Gilda Sahebi – Talk der Kölner VHS

She is one of the most sought-after (and listened to) young thinkers in our society. Gilda Sahebi is a journalist, political scientist, author, doctor and campaigner: against discrimination and targeted disinformation, for freedom and justice, for education and for democracy. Her voice accompanies numerous interested people in Germany through racist thought patterns, divisive strategies in society and politics, misogynistic structures and polarizing reporting.

Following her two highly acclaimed books "Our sword is love - the feminist revolt in Iran" and "How we teach ourselves racism - an analysis of German debates", Gilda Sahebi will be presenting her new book "Connecting instead of dividing - a response to the politics of polarization", which will be published in mid-September.

The book will be just one of several topics: When looking at German society today, stories of drama, antagonism and division come to the fore. Sahebi counters these narratives by pointing out that they are often politically generated and reinforced by the media. She exposes these narratives as an instrument of domination by authoritarian forces - using the relevant debates on social benefits, migration, gender and wokeness, war and peace and corona.
