Ein Ort der Poesie: Anderland VI

"Anderland", Cologne's poetry festival, is taking place for the sixth time this fall. On two consecutive days (3 and 4 November), poetry will take center stage in Cologne's Central Library. This time, Marica Bodrožić, Kerstin Hensel and Norbert Hummelt will be guests at the Cologne City Library.

On tonight's second evening, Norbert Hummelt will present his new volume of poetry "Hellichter Tag", and Kerstin Hensel will also read from her texts.

Kerstin Hensel was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1961. After training as a nurse, she studied at the Institute for Literature in Leipzig. She is considered one of the most versatile and influential representatives of contemporary German literature. Her work includes poetry, novels and short stories. Kerstin Hensel was elected Deputy Director of the Literature section at the Akademie der Künste Berlin in 2015. She now teaches at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. Kerstin Hensel lives in Berlin.

Norbert Hummelt was born in Neuss in 1962 and lives as a freelance writer in Berlin. He was awarded the Rainer Malkowski Prize in 2021 for his lyrical oeuvre. His previous awards include the Hölty Prize for Poetry, the Rolf Dieter Brinkmann Prize, the Mondsee Poetry Prize and the Lower Rhine Literature Prize. He has translated T.S. Eliot's poetry cycles "The Waste Land" and "Four Quartets" into German and is the editor of W.B. Yeats' poems.

The events take place in cooperation with the Literatur-in-Köln Archiv (LiK), the Bittner bookshop and the Institute for German Language and Literature I at the University of Cologne.
