Eine szenische Lesung "ÜBER DIE SCHÄDLICHKEIT DES TABAKS" von Anton Tschechow

Anton Chekhov's play "ABOUT THE DESTINY OF TABAK" will be performed bilingually in German and Greek for the first time. We cordially invite you to be part of this evening: a one-act play that combines humor and thoughtfulness - in the Greek community, a place that offers space for exchange and encounter. At the center of this intimate production is the monologue of a man named Nyukhin, who is played in one role by two actors simultaneously in two different languages. In the process, tobacco is transformed into a mirror of human habits and relationship entanglements. The two-headed cast of Nikos Konstantakis (Njuchin in Greek) and Robin Berenz (Njuchin in German) shine in the bilingual casting of the main character by always pointedly responding to the wordplay of the respective language. We look forward to seeing you and to an inspiring encounter in two languages.

The same performance will take place on two subsequent days. The performance will last approximately one hour and will be followed by an informal discussion with the Tobacco Awareness Ambassadors, a joint association of the Greek Community Cologne e.V. and Shorten the Distance e.V., after a short break. This year, the Tobacco Awareness Ambassadors initiative has realized the project "Lieber mit Niko statt Nikotin" (Better with Niko instead of Nicotine) in the Greek Community of Cologne, which is supported by the City of Cologne with the funding of the "Third Places".

You can reach the venue by taking the U5 line to Liebigstraße station (approx. 750 m on foot). There is a barrier-free entrance through the inner courtyard at the back of the Greek community. However, there are no wheelchair-accessible toilets in the building.
