Elisabeth enters the stage. She is Empress of Austria, Queen of Hungary, ideal of beauty, wife, mother, sportswoman - and has been dead for over 100 years. How does she herself look back on her life in the limelight of the 19th century? To her survival as an icon in dozens of films and series. Sisi's face adorns sweets and souvenirs, she is the poster child of Austria, the darling of a nation. At the same time, she is described as a ravenous mother, eating disordered, vain and selfish. Who is the woman behind all these images and stories?

The young director Fritzi Wartenberg stages Mareike Fallwickl's monologue and takes a multi-layered and feminist look at the Habsburg superstar.
