With their residency project "Erika's Daughters", Lina Determann and Jette Schwabe take this figure as the starting point for performative research. They enter into a dialog with Erika Mustermann and thus also with society's ideas of female* average, representation and identity. Who has been declared the norm here? According to what criteria? And why does the Bundesdruckerei still refuse to provide any information about the selection process?
In RESIDENZ, Erika Mustermann becomes negotiable: as a woman*, as a question, as a presence. In public castings in the urban space, Erika will be recast together with local actors and transformed as a collective tool.
What happens when her pattern identity is carried by bodies that she otherwise overlooks? What does her voice sound like when we give her one? What happens when everyone is suddenly called Erika Mustermann? And what does an individual who is supposed to unite (everything) look like?
Look forward to finding out together at the final performance on Saturday, April 18 at 6 pm.
