In 1953, Frantz Fanon, a French psychiatrist from Martinique, takes over the management of the psychiatric clinic in Blida, Algeria. In the face of institutional racism and the colonial system, he revolutionizes medical practice and joins the struggle for independence. As a central figure of anti-colonialism, he leaves his mark on history through his writings. In this feature film, director Jean-Claude Barny traces those decisive years (1953-1956) and portrays the author of DIE VERDAMMTEN DIESER ERDE and SCHWARZE HAUT, WEISSE MASKEN. On the 100th anniversary of Fanon's birth, FANON shows the unbroken topicality of his thought.
