In the organizer's words:

Fantasy Filmfest 2025

Indie cinema is alive! And shows its most imaginative side. The opening film is a fantastic discovery of the kind that Fantasy Filmfest has always stood for: GOOD BOY is an innovative and superbly photographed horror film from the perspective of a dog - who also happens to be called Indy. Our centerpiece EXIT 8, the film adaptation of the indie game hit of the same name, also inspires with its haunting, Kafkaesque vision of hell, and of course you can always rely on Quentin Dupieux's dry humor, to which we dedicate the Director's Spotlight with THE PIANO ACCIDENT. The fast-paced finale is the superhero spectacle HI-FIVE, a wonderful frontal attack on all laugh muscles. You really should take this opportunity, because admittedly, there isn't that much to laugh about this year. But there is all the more to tremble and suffer through, such as the uncomfortable MAN FINDS TAPE, the shocking exorcism horror ROQIA, the brute vendetta MARCO or the extraordinary zombie thriller WE BURY THE DEAD with Daisy Ridley. And this year is also monstrous: there has rarely been such a concentrated load of monsters, mythical creatures and aliens in one issue - look forward to ANGEL'S EGG, DEATHSTALKER, NIGHTMARE BUGS, OMNISCIENT READER: THE PROPHECY and THE TOXIC AVENGER! And finally there's another intense and disturbing German-language contribution in the program: WELCOME HOME BABY by Andreas Prochaska!

Fantasy Filmfest 2025

The indie spirit is alive - and more imaginative than ever! Right from the opening film, we dive into the kind of fantastic discovery the Fantasy Filmfest has always stood for: GOOD BOY is a stunningly shot, innovative horror story told from the perspective of a dog - who just so happens to be named Indy. Our Centerpiece EXIT 8, the adaptation of the indie game hit of the same name, captivates with its haunting, Kafkaesque nightmarish vision. And of course, you can always count on Quentin Dupieux's bone-dry humor. We're celebrating him in this year's Director's Spotlight with THE PIANO ACCIDENT. The grand finale comes with closing night film HI-FIVE, a superhero spectacle that's a full-on attack on your funny bone. A rare opportunity, because let's face it: there's not much to laugh about this year. But there's plenty to tremble and suffer through - with the unsettling MAN FINDS TAPE, the shocking exorcism horror ROQIA, the brutal revenge tale MARCO, and the unique zombie thriller WE BURY THE DEAD, starring Daisy Ridley. And yes, this year is truly monstrous: so many beasts, mythical creatures, and alien fiends packed into one edition - get ready for ANGEL'S EGG, DEATHSTALKER, NIGHTMARE BUGS, OMNISCIENT READER: THE PROPHECY, and THE TOXIC AVENGER! Lastly, we're also proud to include a powerful and disturbing German-language entry: WELCOME HOME BABY by Andreas Prochaska.
