Festkonzert 75 Jahre LLO im Gewandhaus

The traditional Leipzig Teachers' Orchestra is not only celebrating its 75th anniversary, but also honoring its conductor Gerd-Eckehard Meißner on his impressive 40th anniversary of service. The concert will focus on Mozart's Piano Concerto in D major KV 451 and Franz Liszt's third symphonic poem Les Préludes. The program will be complemented by works by Johannes Brahms, Jürgen Dietze and Lili Boulanger.

The Leipzig pianist Charlotte Steppes will be the soloist. In just a few years, she has gained an excellent reputation as a versatile performer and has been praised for her "fabulous technique and sovereignty of style and taste".

The Leipzig Teachers' Orchestra is the oldest amateur orchestra in the city. Although the name has been retained for traditional reasons, the ensemble is now open to musicians from a wide range of professions. Its concerts in the Gewandhaus have been very popular with audiences for many years.
