Choir in the courtyard:
On June 21, it's that time again: as always at the beginning of summer, Dresden joins over 1,000 cities worldwide in celebrating the Fête de la Musique - and the Zentralwerk will of course be there! On this day, the entire city will be transformed into a pulsating soundscape. All concerts are free of charge and invite people of all ages to discover, linger and join in the celebrations - whether music lovers, neighbors or random walkers.
The Zentralwerk opens its courtyard :

Around 15 musical amateurs from many areas of the transport company sing in the DVB choir - from the driving service to the board office, but also singers who do not work at DVB. It was originally founded in 2022 for an internal event. The members had so much fun that it became a permanent institution that meets weekly for rehearsals.
In the meantime, the DVB choir has also performed outside the company on several occasions and presented itself to the public. In summer 2023, it sang for the first time with the Dresden Singakademie at all DVB ferry stations. In summer 2024, it performed at the Dresden City Festival. Numerous internal performances round off its program.
Under the expert direction of trained thoroughbred musician Jan Lang, the amateur singers have since developed further. "We don't want to compete with professional choirs, we just want to celebrate singing together. This creates cohesion even in difficult times," says DVB choir founder Christian Schmidt.
