FLITTARDER FOLKS FEST - Die Kölsch-Irish-Connection

Why don't you get your asses in gear at the end of the year in the north of Cologne? To Cologne Flittard in the Rheinphilharmonie (aka Schützenhalle). After a successful reunion of the MAHONES (The Godmothers of Irish Soul) last December, we will be celebrating the FLITTADER FOLKS FEST and the intimate Kölsch-Irish connection there. Most people know that many of the songs we sing at carnival originally come from the Irish.

With plenty of action and fun, we pay homage to this intimate musical love affair and celebrate Kölsch-Irish pre-Christmas. The "Folks Fest" will be hosted by the Cologne-based Mahones, who made a name for themselves in the 90s and early 2000s with concerts and tours throughout Europe with Irish fun folk à la "THE POGUES" and also as their support act. After their reunion last year, the call for their freshly pressed mix of party folk, punk, bluegrass and heart-warming hellfire got louder and louder and so this December they are inviting an energetic line-up to their iconic Flittarder Veedel for some rubber-popping and toasting!

Joining the party are HALVLANG, where Irish pub music meets Cologne dialect and who have already built up quite a fan base on their journey between wanderlust and homesickness for Kölle am Rhing since their foundation in 2021. With their explosive mix of folk, punk and Rhenish joy of playing, they recently won the "Loss mer singe" sponsorship award at the Kölsche Musik Band Kontest (KMBK).

The dancers from the Greenwood School of Irish Dancing bring even more movement to the show. For the FLITTARDER FOLKS FEST, they will simply drift down the Rhine from Bonn to add the finishing touch to the party with their fiery Irish stepdance performance à la Riverdance.
