Florian Weber is one of the outstanding voices of contemporary jazz piano. In his solo concerts, the pianist, who is also a member of the NDR Big Band, develops his very own sound language: lyrical, transparent and full of subtle nuances. His music moves between improvisation, classical structure and modern jazz - always with a sense of space, form and emotional depth.
"Something Else!" describes him as "a truly groundbreaking pianist", "All About Jazz" attests to his "all-consuming musical appetite", and the Süddeutsche Zeitung praises his "fresh, unspent tone". This praise is the expression of a successful career in the course of which Weber has established himself as a permanent fixture on the global scene.
His collaborations with renowned colleagues also speak for themselves: Weber has worked on stage and in the studio with Tomasz Stańko, Pat Metheny, Albert Mangelsdorff and Michael Brecker, among others. In addition to his jazz projects, the pianist has always found time for classical excursions - as a soloist, he has performed works by Mozart, Ravel, Gershwin and Piazzolla with philharmonic orchestras.
Numerous awards attest to his exceptional reputation: the Steinway Prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival solo piano competition, the ECHO Jazz award for "Best National Pianist", the Belmont Prize and the WDR Jazz Prize for Improvisation.
An evening with Florian Weber Solo is an invitation to experience sound as a lively dialog between intuition, silence and expression.
