With Anthems , Gauthier Dance celebrates artist in residence Barak Marshall twice: two pieces, two companies, one unmistakable signature - united in an evening that shows how powerful, touching and captivating contemporary dance can be.

The successful piece by the Gauthier Dance JUNIORS//Theaterhaus Stuttgart, euphorically celebrated at COLOURS International Dance Festival 2025, returns to the big stage. With a wonderful mix of slapstick, humorous exaggeration, fairytale-like images and a dash of audience participation, Barker tells a story that touches all generations: Six servants, a tyrannical mistress - and the courage to stand up together. A play that shows how much strength there is in solidarity and humor.

Harry was created in 2012 as an anniversary work for Ballets Jazz Montréal - and quickly became one of star choreographer Barak Marshall's most popular pieces. Now it returns, freshly reworked and tailor-made for the 16 dancers of Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart. You can look forward to an irresistibly danceable soundtrack full of swing from the 20s and 30s, a piece that sparkles with imagination, speed and humor, and a story that goes straight to the heart. Harry is a hero who refuses to be defeated - not by gods, not by fate, not even by his own death. He defies all boundaries out of pure love. A hymn to humanity, full of passion and warmth.

Anthems combines two pieces that inspire courage, celebrate freedom and remind us with playful lightness how powerful human connection can be. Humor, heart, movement, music. And both bear the unmistakable signature of our Artist in Residence, Barak Marshall.
