Gewandhausorchester, Andrés Orozco-Estrada conductor, María Dueñas violin
---
Great cinema, without words: Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco 's overture "Julius Caesar" sets Shakespeare's drama to music with poetic tonal language; Erich Wolfgang Korngold, known for his film music, creates an ideal canvas with his concerto for violin and orchestra, which will be played by violinist María Dueñas at the Gewandhaus for the first time this evening. The evening is rounded off with a mixture of drama and comedy in Richard Strauss' "Death and Transfiguration" and "Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks."
