Engelbert Humperdinck's fairytale opera "Hansel and Gretel" has been enchanting generations of young opera-goers for over a hundred years. Significantly, the world premiere of this opera took place on the eve of Christmas Eve. And even today, Hansel and Gretel still appears on the repertoire of almost all opera houses every year at Christmas time. After all, Christmas is a family celebration and Hansel and Gretel is the quintessential family opera. While the children look forward to their first opera experience with beaming eyes, the adults indulge in nostalgia and childhood memories. In our production, the two siblings Hansel and Gretel immerse themselves in a fantastic fairytale world that is guaranteed to delight every child.
