What if animals ruled over humans - and the life of an individual became entertainment? In Sibylle Berg's Helge's Life, this is exactly what happens: the animals have taken over the world and Mrs. God and Death present the audience with the life of a completely normal person - Helge. From birth to school, career, love, family and death, we experience an entire life in fast motion.

Helge is not a hero, not a rebel, but a mirror of our time: conformist, overwhelmed, in search of meaning. In garish, grotesque and at the same time touching scenes, Berg depicts a world teetering between affluence and loneliness. Humor and pain lie close together - the laughter often gets stuck in the throat.

Sharp-tongued, sarcastic and full of black humor, the play raises questions that affect us all: Why do we live the way we do? What remains when we have everything - except meaning?
