"Himmelwärts" invites you on a musical journey that describes the path from darkness and despair to hope and peace. The MDR Children's Choir interprets works from different eras, genres and moods, from sacred to secular music, by living composers and old masters alike. In doing so, it approaches the profound subject in a varied, exciting and yet confident manner. In remembrance of the end of the war 80 years ago, the program emphasizes the strength of the human spirit and the importance of kindness and charity. Through improvised transitions, the choir and ensemble blend the pieces into a harmonious whole that celebrates faith in a better world and looks upwards - heavenwards.
