Galerie Koppelmann cordially invites you to the opening of the exhibition Im Schatten des Lichts. Following The Aftermath at Kunstverein artrmx, this presentation opens up a new perspective on the work of Marlini Wickramasinha.

The focus is on social images: an Oscar ceremony, a rugby match, a birthday party with celebrities, exuberant parties - but also quiet scenes such as the children of Izieu, the rescued children from Bergen-Belsen or the arrival of migrants in the hall of Ellis Island. Wickramasinha transforms photographic templates into monumental black and white paintings that freeze the ephemeral and make its fragility visible.

In the Shadow of Light pays tribute to the over 90-year-old artist with a selection that hauntingly juxtaposes brilliance and fragility, closeness and distance.
