On Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 6.00 pm, Johann Sebastian Bach's monumental Mass in B minor will be performed in the Stadtkirche Darmstadt as part of the Darmstadt Baroque Festival. This late work is considered one of the greatest creations in the history of Western music - a musical legacy in which Bach combined the essence of his compositional skills. From solemn choral movements and artfully interwoven fugues to intimate arias, the work spans an arc that combines spiritual depth and musical splendor in a unique way.

For the performance, the Darmstädter Kantorei has secured the services of the Darmstädter Barocksolisten on period instruments as its orchestral partner. The soloists will be: Sophie Rosenfelder (soprano), Hanna Roos (alto), Christian Rathgeber (tenor) and Matthias Horn (bass). The overall direction is in the hands of cantor Christian Roß.

The performance promises to be a festive concert event that will impress with its artistic excellence as well as the special atmosphere of the Stadtkirche - an evening in which Bach's masterpiece can be experienced in all its radiance and spiritual depth.
