Marienvesper und Kunstausstellung

In the organizer's words:

Birth of the Virgin and sexuality, new art and early music, strict canon and boundless freedom: Claudio Monteverdi's Vespers for the Virgin Mary offers the entire spectrum of Italian music around 1600 with gripping rhythms, polyphonic interweaving and expressive, virtuoso solo singing. He sets psalms, Marian devotion and erotic poetry (Song of Songs) to music.
The Epiphaniaskantorei and Capella Epiphania will sing and play this demanding work in period tuning under the direction of cantor Maximilian Bauer. The soloists are Theresa Klose, Simone Schwark, Christian Rathgeber, Fabian Kelly, Johannes Hill and Felix Rathgeber.
The "rabbits" by Berlin artist Christopher Winter will be on display, also in keeping with the Easter season - after all, the rabbit has always stood for fertility and resurrection, but also for purity. Incidentally, Titian anticipated this connection around 1530 with his painting "Madonna with Rabbit".
