As one of the most versatile European trumpet players, Matthias Schwengler has developed his own unmistakable sound in recent years. Always in search of new sounds, he combines jazz with styles from the Balkans, Arab countries, Latin America and other world music, giving his playing a unique and global flavor. The impressive dynamics and his extraordinary sound spectrum make him an exceptional talent in the local music scene.

In his band Soulcrane, which has existed since 2015, he has developed his typical chamber music, dark sound. In the 11th year since its foundation, the band has welcomed saxophonist Denis Gäbel as a guest. He moves confidently between lyrical, solemn passages and rhythmically and harmonically demanding pieces. Although the quartet's instrumentation is minimalist, it creates an impressive wealth of soundscapes and emotions that will delight jazz lovers and newcomers alike. The combination of the warm, nuanced trumpet, expressive saxophone, pulsating bass lines and inventive guitar sounds gives Soulcrane's music a unique, virtuosic and creative sound palette.
