14-year-old Lea is torn away from her usual teenage environment when her parents take her and her mentally impaired brother on a hasty trip into the wilderness. At a remote mountain camp, they are welcomed by members of a sect from which Lea's parents have long sought hope and meaning in life. The group believes that the origins of humanity lie on the planet Jupiter. Under the guidance of her guru, she prepares herself for a passing comet whose orbit will spiritually carry her to higher spheres. Lea, who used to defend the sect's doctrines against the mockery of her fellow students, is disturbed by the elaborate preparations for the cosmic event.
