Jupiter Jones - „Ich trag den Sarg, Du trägst was Buntes“ - Tour 2026

In the organizer's words:

MAYBE THAT'S MEANT AS A CONSOLATION!

In 2019, Sascha Eigner and Nicholas Müller were sitting at an oak table in Hamburg Eimsbüttel and had big dreams, lofty goals, glaring expectations and so on. In fact, everything you could possibly have when you thought about the newly decided reunion of their band JUPITER JONES next year. New album, first show at the Reeperbahn Festival, then a tour, Rockolymp maybe...

In 2020, everyone was wearing masks, in a shitty mood and a bit scared. The hullabaloo of the world hit the mind and the heart. Writing songs felt like an arms race against the end of the industry and a bit of the world. It was exhausting! Nice and meaningful, but so exhausting and frayed. Characterized by constant breaks, overloaded Zoom sessions, repeatedly postponed schedules. And all of this at a time when the two of them should have been permanently wet-eyed with happiness. In the end, they were, but for reasons of fear and exhaustion.

"DIE SONNE IST EIN ZWERGSTERN" - The 2022 second debut of the two was still great and to love. A sigh of relief and a new beginning with a lot of very good time in and around it. But it was also clear: the next album has to be different!

SAME SAME, BUT DIFFERENT.

So, different in the sense of: The world still doesn't work today, probably even less so, and there are reasons to despair from eyes open to eyes closed, but it's not the music's fault! So let's take care of each other and ourselves, let's use the energy, no matter where it comes from and where it wants to go, and at the same time let's realize that we've really been doing this long enough to have a very clear opinion and a very clear attitude: About music and the world!

Let's call our friend and colleague Andi Weizel (producer [&] songwriter, Frida Gold among others) and ask him if he's up for co-producing and has all ten fingers in the pie anyway. And let's invoke virtues that were learned together when Andi was still working as a production assistant on the albums "HOLIDAY IN CACATONIA" and "JUPITER JONES" back in the days of Tuck. Why don't you also ask Michi Ludes of former Mikroboy-Glory, Liser, Jean Michelle Tourette and a few other super friends if they're up for songwriting? But also Ali Zuckowski, the one with all the pop songs and stuff. They're all good people, both personally and professionally. Because you only ever do what you do best, JJ continue where they never left off. It may annoy whoever wants it, but they continue to draw the bow from the punk of the early years to the pop, also of the early years. That's what they've always done! It only hurts if you bump into it voluntarily. The question is always how much you take such a project for granted. And so - knowing full well that calculation has never worked with this band anyway - an album was written that is heartfelt, human and political, danceable and cryable and pop and punk and everything else. (Just not pop punk. No half measures. For the first time in the band's history, significantly more songs were written than an album like this actually needs. Once, because it just worked. Well, it wasn't easy, it was a lot of work... But the ideas were there, the urge, the need, the drive!

I WEAR THE COFFIN, YOU WEAR SOMETHING COLORFUL

That's the name of the work now. A thing full of the joy of life that defies the circumstances, that wants to entertain, but not at any price. As round and angular at the same time as the title promises. It is probably the most consistent JJ album since the very first one. Not because it wants to sound like that, there were too many years in between for that. But because it does what it wants. Because it comes from somewhere deep inside, where you like to clear out your mind. It's a collection of everything that has always made up JUPITER JONES, and it had to be that way. For Sascha and Nicholas, it's a good reason to go to bed satisfied. At least satisfied with the music. We'll deal with the world another time.
