When the two Hanseatic Deenstdeerns appear, there's not a dry eye in the house. A liqueur for Käthe and a sandwich with aspic for Adele loosens the tongue. The two get into their stride and the audience learns about the most important events and the gossip of times long past. You quickly understand what life was like in the 19th century. With their everyday worries and hardships, joys and sorrows, they describe nothing other than normality.
