On Saturday, October 25, the 30th Leipzig Opera Ball will take place, an event at which prominent guests are expected to attend for ticket prices of up to 695 euros per table ticket or 269 euros for a strolling ticket. Among the invited guests are the real estate company Hildebrand & Partner and the singer Till Lindemann from Rammstein, against whom serious allegations of sexual assault have been made.

The rally is directed against abuse of power and sexualized violence, which also penetrate prominent circles and often remain without consequences. The event symbolically represents the failure of a system that protects perpetrators and confronts those affected with disregard or even accusations of guilt. It particularly criticizes the treatment of cases such as Lindemann's, where the debate often ends as soon as criminal investigations are dropped - regardless of the actual consequences for those affected.

This rally goes beyond Lindemann as a person and sheds light on the structural dimension of the problem. It calls for a critical examination of the patriarchal systems that promote abuse of power and discrimination. The question arises as to why social hierarchies, bigotry and abuse of power continue to be tolerated.
