In the organizer's words:

There is an exciting new wave rolling through the world of jazz and its derivative sub-genres. And the members of this ensemble have made it their mission to jump on this bandwagon.

If you like, they are learning from the New School of Jazz - it has definitely had a big influence on all three of them. At the same time, they respect and recognize the importance of the traditional side; they get enough insight into that at the Maastricht Conservatory, because they are committed to upholding the idea that there is no hierarchy between these different schools/styles/subgenres of jazz - be it avant-garde, fusion, Americana jazz or punk jazz. When you start to see each of them as different forms of a recurring medium with the same intent and message, the boundaries between them become blurred. And you begin to appreciate each style both individually and as a whole!

In the case of this particular ensemble, we each apply our own methods based on a fusion of our personal influences to create the new and unheard.
