Festive Advent concert in an inviting atmosphere under the title "Concert Pieces and Sound Stories" by the Leipzig Teachers' Orchestra with a varied program:

A spirited overture by Saverio Mercadante is followed by three concert pieces for soloists with orchestra: first the Viola Concerto in D major by Anton Hoffmeister with Arthur Günther, followed by Julius Rietz's Concert Piece for Oboe and Orchestra, played by Jürgen Dietze, and the Piano Concerto No. 2 by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy with Rolf-Dieter Arens at the piano. Not only will musical personalities from different generations with close ties to Leipzig be on stage, but the three composers have also left their mark on Leipzig's rich musical tradition as publishers and Gewandhaus conductors.

The popular Nutcracker Suite by Peter Tchaikovsky forms the festive conclusion to the concert under the proven direction of Gerd-Eckehard Meißner.
