Kreativ-Workshops für Jugendliche am Ebertplatz (#1: EBI FAN-ZINES)

In this workshop, we will look at Cologne's Ebertplatz and the question of how we experience and use public space. What happens in this place? How do we feel there? What stories, images or thoughts do we associate with it? Inspired by DIY and punk zine culture, we create our own little magazines - so-called zines.

Zines are self-made booklets that are created with simple means and offer space for personal perspectives. We work very simply with collages, markers, texts, photos and photocopiers. It's not about being able to "draw well" or having artistic experience, but about trying out ideas and making your own thoughts visible. Together we collect impressions from around Ebertplatz and transform them into pictures, texts and collages. At the end, we will either create individual zines or a joint group zine.

About the creative workshop series:

In collaboration with the _thek team, Unser Ebertplatz is initiating a series of workshops with teenagers and young adults (aged 16-27) to enable creative participation on Ebertplatz.

The aim is to make young perspectives visible and involve them as co-designers of the public space in order to strengthen their identification with the city and Ebertplatz.

The workshop will be led by a team of young graphic designers and illustrators(Deniz, Max, Fabi and Rosa), who are carrying out the project with funding from the City of Cologne.

The artistic exploration of Ebertplatz as an urban transformation space enables participants to make their own perspectives visible and experience themselves as active co-creators. Creative techniques serve as low-threshold, collectively usable media between art, youth culture and political imagery. The workshop series combines creative practice with reflection on one's own social space and strengthens self-confidence, teamwork and cultural participation.
