The Leipzig Christmas Market 2025 will transform the entire city center into a large-scale Christmas landscape from November 25 to December 23, 2025. A dense network of stalls, themed areas and program points will run through the city around the market square, Augustusplatz, Naschmarkt, Nikolaikirchhof and other squares. The market is complemented by the offerings of over 90 stores, which are open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. as part of the "Pure Christmas Shopping" format; there are also open Sundays on the 1st and 4th Advent.

The Christmas market will open on Tuesday, 25 November with an official program on the market square. From this day onwards, the stalls will open daily from 11 am (from 2 pm on the opening day), Sundays to Thursdays usually until 9 pm, Fridays and Saturdays until 10 pm. On the last two days of the market, December 22 and 23, the stalls close at 8 p.m.; on December 23, only the market area around the Old Town Hall is open.

In terms of content, the Leipzig Christmas market is a mixture of a traditional city market and special themed areas. The market square is dominated by a large Christmas tree, a classic village of huts and the central stage. Concerts, performances by trombone choirs and a changing Advent program take place here. For children and families, there are storytelling sessions, a special children's program and regular "consultation hours" with Santa Claus, who is personally present at the market several times from the end of November.

Several areas focus on special themes: The Finnish Christmas village "Finn Village" with glögi, flamed salmon and Nordic handicrafts will be set up in front of the opera house on Augustusplatz. Also on Augustusplatz, a South Tyrolean village with regional specialties and a fairytale forest with life-size figures invite you to visit. The "Anno Domini" historical Christmas market with traditional crafts, mead, torchlight and minstrel music is set up on the Naschmarkt. On Burgplatz, the Swiss Village presents Swiss specialties, ski gondolas and curling rinks. Other typical elements include a fire tongs punch at Nikolaikirchhof, a historical carousel in Salzgäßchen, reading hours and hands-on activities in a reading workshop as well as the "Magical Path of Lights" with illuminated figures and installations.

The market landscape is accompanied by an extensive Advent program: In addition to daily live music on the stage on the market square, Leipzig's "Johann Sebastian Bach" music school organizes Advent music in its own courtyard on selected days. Special programs such as the festive arrival of Santa Claus at the main train station followed by a reception on the market square, themed action days or additional cultural offerings in museums and shows (e.g. dinner show "Gans ganz anders", Christmas circus "Aeros") are embedded in the period and complement the classic market events.

The City of Leipzig's Market Office acts as the organizer and central point of contact. The Christmas market is integrated into the existing city center infrastructure so that visitors can take advantage of numerous travel options by bus, train and park & ride. Overall, the Leipzig Christmas Market 2025 sees itself as a large-scale inner-city event that combines the classic Christmas market, themed villages, cultural program and inner-city Christmas shopping into a unified offering.
