Lener & Band

In the organizer's words:

The fields glow in the last light, a dry wind whirls dust across the asphalt. Where the city ends and the emptiness begins, Lener stands in the open barn door. His Fender Strat hangs low, his jacket too big, his eyes sharp. A figure like an echo from another time, or one that doesn't quite exist yet. She grew up on a remote farm at the end of the town of Freising, between the edge of the forest and the horizontal wasteland. For many years, her distorted guitars droned in the empty barn, through the old wooden shed into the wasteland. At night, the neighboring forest chirped and howled. In search of witches and ghosts, Lener crept through the trees with her triplet sisters, later stalking magical material for her first songs.

Lener's songs are hymns to what was, what could have been, and to the courage to go on anyway. "Maybe in another life", she sings, while the drums bubble underneath like a raging flood of thoughts. An anthem for all the decisions that weren't made, for all the turn-offs that led to the unknown. A line for those who lie awake at night wondering what would have happened if, but that is precisely where its power lies: in the realization that it doesn't matter. That any direction is one, as long as it feels real.
