The novel is a modern, yet almost classic Bildungsroman. What makes it unusual and appealing is that the personality development, the journey of the heroine Eva Fink, is described from the perspective of a girl to a young woman. And that Eva Fink has a mercilessly humorous view of the curious and contradictory things around her. Male protagonists have always dominated the genre. Moreover, there is not a single German-language novel written from a female perspective for this period in the Federal Republic of Germany between 1967 and 1976 that is set in this very special socio-political scene. And certainly not one that deals with this particular historical, socio-political background. It is the background of a young girl's left-wing political socialization, which goes back to 1976. Embedded in historical events such as the hippie movement, the student revolt, the Vietnam War, the protests surrounding the emergency laws, the terrorism of the RAF, the introduction of BAföG, the women's movement.
